Перевести ! marie curie was born in warsaw on 7 th of november 1867. her father was a teacher of science and mathematics in a school in the town, and from him little maria sklodovska - which was her polish name - learned her first lessons in science. maria’s wish was to study at the sorbonne in paris and after many years of waiting she finally left her native land in 1891. once in paris maria began a course of hard study and simple living. she decided to work for two master’s degrees-one in physics, the other in mathematics. thus she had to work twice as hard as the ordinary student. yet she had not enough money to live on. she lived in a bare attic in the poorest quarter of paris. night after night, after her hard day’s work at the university, she climbed to her poorly furnished room and worked at her books for hours. though she had been weak and ill under this hard mode of life, she worked in this way for four years. she chose her course and nothing could turn her from it. among the many scientists maria met and worked with in paris was pierre curie. pierre curie, born in 1859 in paris, was the son of a doctor, and from childhood he liked science. at sixteen, he was a bachelor of science and he took his master’s degree in physics when he was eighteen. when he met maria sklodovska he was thirty five years old and famous throughout europe for his discoveries in magnetism. but in spite of the honour he brought to france by his discoveries, the french government could only spare him a very meagre salary as a reward, and the university of paris refused him a laboratory of his own for his researches. loving science more than anything else, pierre curie and maria sklodovska very soon became the closest friends. they worked together constantly and discussed many problems of their researches. after little more than a year they fell in love with each other, and in 1895 maria sklodovska became mme. curie. their marriage was not only to be a very happy one but also one of the greatest scientific partnerships.

Мечтой Марии было учиться в Сорбонне в Париже и, после долгих лет ожиданий, в 1891 году  она наконец-то покинула родную землю. И так Мария начала нелегкий курс обучения, ведя скромный образ жизни. Она решила получить две степени магистра – одну в физике, другую в математике.

Таким образом, ей пришлось трудиться в два раза усерднее, чес обычным студентам. Ей все еще не хватало денег на проживание. Она жила в пустом чердаке в самом бедном квартале Парижа. Каждый вечер, после тяжелых занятий в Университете, она поднималась в свою бедно обставленную комнату и часами сидела за книгами. Несмотря на слабость и болезни от такого трудного образа жизни, она проработала так 4 года. Она выбрала свой путь, и ничто не могло заставить ее свернуть с него.

Среди многих ученых, с которыми Мари встречалась и работала, был Пьер Кюри.  Пьер Кюри, рожденный в 1859 году в Париже, был сыном доктора и с детства полюбил науку. В шестнадцать он стал бакалавром естественных наук, а в восемнадцать получил ученую степень по физике. Когда он встретил Марию Складовскую, ему было тридцать пять лет, и он был известен  по всей Европе мире своими открытиями в магнетизме. Но не смотря на известность, которые он принес Франции своими научными исследованиями, французское правительство в награду выделило ему ничтожное жалование, а Парижский Университет отказал ему в личной лаборатории для его дальнейших изысканий.

Огромная любовь к науке вскоре сделала Пьера Кюри и Марию Складовскую самыми близкими друзьями. Они постоянно работали вместе и обсуждали различные проблемы их научных исследований. Спустя почти год, они влюбились друг в друга, и 1895 году Мария Склодовская стала Мадам Кюри. Их замужество стало не только счастливым, но и одним из величайших научных партнерств.

It is Saturday and finally I 1) ………… (have arrived) in Arequipa in the south-west corner of Peru after setting off from Quito ten days ago. I 6) ………… (crossed) the border with Ecuador at Tumbes and 7) ………… (looked around) for a bit before taking a plane straight to lima. When I 8) …………. (got to) Lima, I 9) ………… (took) a bus to the centre and then a taxi to the hotel that I had booked. I 10) ………… (only / stopped off) in Lima for a day and then 11) ……… (jumped) on a bus straight down to Pisco and then Nazca. I 12) ………… (have always / had) a lifelong ambition to see the Nazca lines in the desert. I can honestly say that I 13) ………… (have never / seen) anything so amazing in my life.
In the middle of the desert, there are huge designs and drawings of shapes and animals that can only be seen from the air. I 14) ………… (joined) a group of five people from my hotel. We 15) ………… (took off) in a small plane and 16) ………… (circled) the Nazca lines. The pilot 17) ………… (tilted) the plane to the side so we could look straight down at the designs below.
