Be a grammar detective! a/ an, some and any • We use a or an to talk about singular nouns we can count e.g. a stone, an apple. • We use some for plural nouns we can count e.g. some seeds, some cherries. • We also use some for nouns we can't count and which haven't got plural forms e.g. some food, some fruit, some smoke.
