Край моря,  сонце золотить, укритілісом гори. Чудово блищало небо, засіяне зорями. У саду стояв чималий будинок, укритий шифером, оздоблений орнаментом. Вечір  був м який, теплий, густо настоянний на степових пахощах. Покинута людьми на довгі дні, дорога помирає в бур яні. Степ, оповитий тишею, дихав пахощами росяних трав. Вітром збите, котиться вересневе листя. Біля хати сіріли скопані грядки, від воріт до порога вела стежечка. Крива, похилена хатинка, з чорною стріхою і білими стінами,стояла поміж закинутих, із забитими вікнами осель.
